Due to technological advances and mass marketing of electronic appliances, communication is taking place at different times or over a certain period of time. This type of communication is called Asynchrous Communication. It enables an individual to almost instantaneously contact elected officials, and political leaders in non-governmental organizations throughout the world to express their concerns, request additional information, or to question specific actions. With such ease of communication concerned individuals can make a significant impact regarding issues such as invasive species. If enough people make themselves heard, leaders will listen and changes will be made.

Asynchrous Communication Examples: E-mail, electronic mailing lists, e-mail based conferencing programs, newsgroups, and messaging programs.
